I Victoria Harrison grew up and was educated in the North East of England where she gained a BA(Hons)Fine Art Degree, specialising in Environmental Sculpture.  She now runs her own business "Living Mosaics" from two centres Hexham, Northumberland and Malvern, Worcestershire where she now lives.

Victoria's love of bold colour, use of light and texture are ideally suited to this medium where she has developed new ideas from an art form that has lasted for literally thousands of years.  Her interest in mosaic goes back to her childhood collecting shells, pebbles, jetsam and flotsam from the dramatic untamed Northumbrian coast and experimenting with them on various different types of surface.  It is therefore no surprise that while Victoria studied environmental sculpture she was drawn into the versatility and vitality of the world of mosaic.  "My art and love of nature is always evolving, constantly looking for balance."

Her works have been integrated into brilliant garden architecture and numerous wall panels which hang in private homes and gardens nationwide.  She has undertaken many commissions the latest of which is installed in Dilston Physic Garden, Northumberland.  Victoria was initially inspired by many Roman mosaics and artefacts - being fascinated by their innate beauty and their ability to stand the test of time.

In recent years she has worked with schools, local communities and health institutions inspiring and teaching others through her mosaic workshops and courses the skills that she has honed over the years.  Seeing her students self-confidence and creativity develop over time whether individually or as a team and their amazement at their completed piece of mosaic art is so rewarding that it brings satisfaction and enjoyment to all.
