Announcement of winner of 2010 Mega Mosaic Makers competition
from judges Gary Drostle, David Bowers and Anne Cardwell

First Prize (£900);
'Journeys; Land, Sea and Sky' triptych.
The mosaic was made at Garden Suburb Infant School, London, with artist Maureen O'Kane.

BAMM President Gary Drostle commented; "A clear winner, this is a very striking mosaic, I love the strong symmetrical design which holds the unity of the triptych. The mosaic has a beautiful use of the colour palette and flow of mosaic tiles. The school process has been carried out well and with creative inspiration."

Second Prize (£600); 'Journeys'
Made at Kingsbury School and Sports College, Birmingham, with artist Claire Cotterill.

This mosaic helped bring together a community of school children recently arrived from far flung countries, when English is not a shared first language making the mosaic was a brilliant way of breaking down the language barrier, resulting in this lively and vibrant mosaic'

Third Prize (£450); 'Green Day'.
Made at Chorlton C of E Primary School, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester
with artist

'Another lovely triptych with a bold simple design, this mosaic has great vibrancy and beautiful colour variation. A wonderful use of the 'crazy paving technique' which still manages to hold the detail'.
