Sculpture, Ceramic, Glass
I have been doing mosaics for 9 years now and I just love it! This form of art suits me perfectly .I love using “rubbish” to create fun, colourful and quirky pieces. I often use the“ pique assiette” technique which involves covering my pieces in chopped up crockery. My studio is an Aladdin’s Cave full of china, tiles, glass and sparkly bits and bobs. I prefer to get my materials for free so I will scrounge, beg, borrow and even steal (yes, it has been known) to get what I need. I even have my very own “Rubbish Fairy” . My home and garden are full of all sorts of weird and wonderful sculptures and structures . Over 150 people visited my studio during NEOS and my work was described by many as fun, quirky and inspirational. I’ve decorated satellite dishes, toilet pans, sinks, a toilet cistern, bits of wheel , bowling balls, glass flowers, bits of pylon ‚car wheels and I’ve built a waterless “water feature” and wall out of over 600 bottles. In April 2016 BEECHGROVE GARDEN featured my work in the first episode of their series. Please have a look.I do mosaic workshops and commissions .Details on my website.Look up Pretty Rubbish Mosaics on Facebook and check out Pretty Rubbish Mosaics website Look up my videos featuring my work and garden under "Margaret Patience" on YoutubeI hope you enjoy looking at these samples of my work.
