Introduction

Statement

I came across mosaics almost by accident and soon developed a passion. An unexpected redundancy in 2005 gave me the time and space to develop my skills and style further. I now work fulltime on a mixture of my own pieces, commissions, school and community murals and run workshops and evening classes. I specialise in personalised pieces for special events, occasions and gifts.

I get my inspiration and materials from all around and enjoy letting individual items lead me to new ideas and creations. I love searching for unusual treasures and breathing new life into what others might throw away, using a wide range of materials from traditional glass tesserae to china and found objects.

Biography

Originally a primary school teacher I then went on to develop teaching materials and finally worked for government departments in school improvement and Healthy Schools. A redundancy in 2005 gave me an opportunity to develop my own mosaic business while still working part time in schools. I now work virtually full time on the business. My background in teaching and professional development gives me the just the right experience for working with schools on mosaic projects and with adults on my workshops and courses.
