Introduction

Materials and colours are carefully selected according to the theme of the mosaic that I am currently working on. This can happen overnight, or, as it quite often is the case, the seasons, events or general obeservations will influence and help to develop an image in my mind, into a successful mosaic.

Introduction

Materials and colours are carefully selected according to the theme of the mosaic that I am currently working on. This can happen overnight, or, as it quite often is the case, the seasons, events or general obeservations will influence and help to develop an image in my mind, into a successful mosaic.

Statement

Mosaic enables me to work with a diverse range of materials - from the cherished mug accidentally dropped onto the kitchen floor, to the sumptuous handmade gold and silver leaf tiles from Murano. It fascinates me, how many insignificant fragments can be assembled to create a work of art, each shard being a vital component of the final outcome.

Another huge passion in my life is music, from which I frequently draw inspiration. I am also interested in Celtic art and enjoy experimenting with colour and texture to create bold contrasts in designs taken from ancient engraved tombstones or rediscovered embossed artefacts.

Biography
